We cling to our favorite songs, to our favorite poetry from our favorite authors, we cling to our favorite lines from articles and books we’ve read; we keep re-reading the same old lines from the same old pages, to the movies we keep watching over and over, We go to places that offer us calmness, silence and oneness.
We Cling to the calmness of the night, we cry, we break, we hum through the melodies in background, and sometimes we escape to replace reality with fantasies, with lines from our favorite scenes that keep on playing inside our heads to a point that we don’t know we’re mumbling it.
And This Is How We Deal With Pain, We cling to the idea that somewhere out there, we have these things that understand us. Things that know our pain, that it’s not just us carrying the weight of the world. We Cling to them cos we realize our suffering and pain are not clichē and we realize it’s okay to feel everything when we’re not okay
We Cling to the things that speak about our silence and pain cos that’s the only thing that shows there’s a part in us that’s desperate for healing. That there’s a part in us that wants to be understood, appreciated and loved. That there’s a part in us that’s wants to be let out – but we can only understand ourselves cos that’s how we deal with pain
And so we hold on to these things because they teach us how to hold on to ourselves
